Both Stingers A and B fought hard last night in round 5 of the NSW water polo metropolitan league against Parramatta in the M6 and M7 league. Stingers B played first, with some fantastic goals scored by Hagen Jewel, Luke Kelly and Tim Medway, but these weren't enough in the end to overcome a strong Parramatta team. Final game score 3-11.
Stingers A suffered a similar fate in the next game, breaking their winning streak to come out with a 4-7 loss. The longer pool took its toll on the team, however defence was still strong throughout the game.
Next week Stingers A play Icebergs at Ryde Aquatic Centre at 8pm, with Stingers B playing the SNB Breakers at 7:15pm at the same venue.
The Stingers returned to the pool with great energy last night after a break last week for the Melbourne Cup.
Stingers A fought out a great match with Drummoyne Red at the Ryde Leisure & Aquatic Centre to come away with a 6-4 win. Great goals by Daniel Bushe, James Graham, Kerry Mealing, Marcus Richards and Rob Timbrell. Stingers A have won 3 from 3 games this season so far.
Stingers B played UNSW Wests at Ashfield pool and showed great development in the pool. Unfortunately the boys came away with a 2-7 loss, with goals scored by Enrique Panameño and Alberto Jimenez.
Next week both Stingers A play and B play Parramatta at 8pm and 7:15pm respectively, at Parramatta Swimming Centre.
The dust has settled on what was an amazing tournament for the Stingers in Stockholm for the 2015 Eurogames. We'd like to officially thank all our supporters and sponsors for helping the team get there, and so we've put together this small highlights reel of our experience to show our appreciation. The Stingers are now focusing on preparations for IGLA 2016 in Alberta, Canada. Enjoy!
Both Stingers A and B teams hit the water this week at Drummoyne Swimming Centre for round 1 of the summer metro competition A late start to the evening didn't discourage Stingers A, with a comfortable 1-6 win over Drummoyne Black in the M6 league. Team B played afterwards and put up a solid fight against Drummoyne Black in the M7 league. Final result 16-2, a great start to the season given a number of new bootcamp players joining the team for the first time.
Next week Stingers A take on UTS Balmain at Ryde Aquatic Centre, While Stingers B take on Parramatta at their home pool.
