The Stingers are having a blast in Stockholm this week in the lead up to Water Polo games which start tonight at 6pm local time. The week has been occupied with the team exploring the city and surrounds of beautiful Stockholm. The opening ceremony on the 5th was a great opportunity to meet fellow Australian competitors and waterpolo teams from around the globe. Thursday the 6th also saw a few of the stingers attend the inaugural welcome dinner hosted by the city of Stockholm, at the beautiful town hall. We've been blown away by the beauty of the city so far and the friendly attitude of locals. Definitely a must for anyone looking to visit Scandinavia.
We will keep you all updated later today with game results from the 3 matches scheduled. Depending on how he team goes we may be in the pool the following day as early as 8:30am, so a hectic schedule. Till then stay tuned on social media for more updates.
The Stingers team A narrowly missed out on finals on Tuesday night, losing out to top of the ladder QVS Wizards in a close 4-8 loss. A great result considering a few members are away competing at the Eurogames in Stockholm. The boys will be taking a well deserved break from games until the summer season commences in early October.

The Sydney Stingers hosted our annual trivia event on Friday the 19th or June, and well not to blow our own horn but it was a spectacular evening filled with fun cheer and a some ever so cheeky antics up on the stage. The event helped to raise over $13,000 which will go towards getting the team to Stockholm to compete in the 2015 EuroGames as well as being put towards equipment and facilities needed to keep the club running.
A huge thank you to all who attended the event giving so generously, to Maxi Shield for her fabulous hostess skills and dazzling talents, Portia Turbo our outrageous quiz mistress for her flawless performance and to our amazing sponsors for their kind prize donations. None of this would be possible without you.
Saturday 6th June saw the Sydney Stingers again come head to head with Melbourne Surge in the bi-yearly Grudge Match! This time played on Sydney's home turf, The afternoon's game saw a great spectator turnout for the main event and four smaller friendly mixed games. Sydney overcame their rivals with a respectable win over Melbourne. Many thanks to all the Surge team who travelled up. Sydney will play the Surge in Melbourne again on Australia Day 2016.
