Summer Season Round 5 Update

Both Stingers A and B fought hard last night in round 5 of the NSW water polo metropolitan league against Parramatta in the M6 and M7 league.  Stingers B played first, with some fantastic goals scored by Hagen Jewel, Luke Kelly and Tim Medway, but these weren't enough in the end to overcome a strong Parramatta team. Final game score 3-11.

Stingers A suffered a similar fate in the next game, breaking their winning streak to come out with a 4-7 loss.  The longer pool took its toll on the team, however defence was still strong throughout the game.

Next week Stingers A play Icebergs at Ryde Aquatic Centre at 8pm, with Stingers B playing the SNB Breakers at 7:15pm at the same venue.

Summer Season Round 1 Update

Both Stingers A and B teams hit the water this week at Drummoyne Swimming Centre for round 1 of the summer metro competition  A late start to the evening didn't discourage Stingers A, with a comfortable 1-6 win over Drummoyne Black in the M6 league.  Team B played afterwards and put up a solid fight against Drummoyne Black in the M7 league.  Final result 16-2, a great start to the season given a number of new bootcamp players joining the team for the first time.

Next week Stingers A take on UTS Balmain at Ryde Aquatic Centre, While Stingers B take on Parramatta at their home pool.

Stingers and Surge seek interest in Brisbane 'Tritons' Water Polo Team

Do you currently live in or around Brisbane? Interested in playing Water Polo in an inclusive environment, meeting new friends and getting fit?  Yes? Then we want to hear from you.  The Melbourne Surge and Sydney Stingers Water Polo clubs are joining forces to find out if there may be interest in Queensland for a third LGBTIQ Water Polo team.

We are currently taking expressions of interest - so sign up, tell your friends who may be interested and help spread the word.  If you are in Brisbane on September 19th for Fair Day, please visit the Aqualicious stall and talk to our representative who can give you more details and take down your details.

Once we have gauged interest we will be in contact with all registrants to discuss the process moving forward.  In the meantime if you have any further questions please contact us.  We're very excited with the great response we've already received and have the full backing of Queensland Water Polo.

Both the Surge and Stingers have enjoyed rapid increases in membership in the last year as the sport gains popularity within the LGBTIQ community.   Recognising this, Water Polo Victoria have announced 2016's first Grudge Match between the two teams will take place in Melbourne as part of the inaugural National Water Polo League Pride Cup Round.   Water polo will become the first national sporting code to hold a Pride event as part of their competitive fixture, with the event showcasing both a men's and a women's match between the elite National League teams the Victorian Seals and Brisbane based KFC Breakers on February 5 at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre starting at 6pm.

Sydney Stingers Promo Video 2015

We'd like to share a little video we made to open our recent trivia fundraiser, 'Are you smarter than a Stinger', for all those who weren't there on the night. Thanks to our talented Enrique and Greg for the footage and editing!

The Sydney Stingers annual club photoshoot gave us a great excuse to make a quick video for our fans, shot on location at our home pool in Sydney and some additional footage from our yearly Grudge match with our sister team, the Melbourne Surge, held in Melbourne.

Stingers tour Acon's new rapid testing centre a[test]

The Stingers thank ACON Health for inviting us to a guided tour of the new 'a[test]' rapid HIV testing center on Oxford St. A great initiative to help make testing more accessible and friendly, the centre delivers HIV results in 30 minutes and is conveniently located in one of Sydney's busiest LGBTIQ hubs.
