This July, the Water Polo World Cup Finals come to Sydney — and Sydney Stingers are the Official Community Partner of the World Aquatics Water Polo World Cup Finals 2026.
Sydney Stingers is Sydney's only LGBTQIA+ inclusive water polo club, with 25 years of community-building and water polo behind us. Across the Finals period, we are running Stingers Space — a dedicated LGBTQIA+ community area within the Fan Zone outside Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre (SOPAC) — bringing inclusive water polo into an international spotlight and showing what Stingers stands for.
When: 20–26 July 2026
Where: Stingers Space, Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre (SOPAC)
For: Everyone
Cost: Free to visit. World Cup match tickets available separately through Water Polo Australia
Come and find us
At Stingers Space you can learn about joining Stingers, explore inclusive water polo pathways, and find out about LGBTQIA+ competitions including the Gay Games and IGLA (International Gay and Lesbian Aquatics). Come as a spectator, a curious newcomer, or someone who just wants to find their people.
Volunteer with Stingers
We need members to help staff Stingers Space across Finals week. Shifts are flexible, whether you can give a few hours or a full day. It is a genuine opportunity to represent Stingers at an international event and be part of a historic moment for our club.
Volunteer with Water Polo Australia
As part of our partnership with WPA, Stingers members may also have the opportunity to volunteer directly with Water Polo Australia at WC26. Register your interest below and we will share more details on both opportunities as the event approaches.
