This July, the Water Polo World Cup Finals come to Sydney — and for the first time in our 25-year history, the Stingers will be there as a partner.

Working alongside Water Polo Australia, Sydney Stingers will run a dedicated LGBTQIA+ space in the Community Fan Zone outside Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre (SOPAC) across the Finals period. This partnership is a first for the club and a significant moment for LGBTQIA+ visibility in water polo in Australia.

Our community partnership with WPA is currently being finalised — we're proud to share more as the formal agreement is confirmed.

When: 20–26 July 2026

Where: Community Fan Zone, Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre (SOPAC)

Cost: Free to visit. World Cup match tickets available separately through Water Polo Australia

Come and find us

At our space you can learn about joining Stingers, explore inclusive water polo pathways, and find out about LGBTQIA+ competitions including the Gay Games and IGLA. Come as a spectator, a curious newcomer, or someone who just wants to find their people.

Volunteer with Stingers

We need members to help staff our fan zone space across Finals week. Shifts are flexible — a few hours or a full day. It's a genuine opportunity to represent Stingers at an international event and be part of a historic moment for the club.

Volunteer with Water Polo Australia

As part of our partnership with WPA, Stingers members also have the opportunity to volunteer directly with Water Polo Australia at WC26. If you want to be involved in the World Cup itself — not just our space — register your interest below and we'll share details on both opportunities.
