The Sydney Stingers
The Sydney Stingers
The Sydney Stingers are a volunteer-run, community-based water polo club. For 25 years, support from our community has helped us keep the club inclusive, accessible, and sustainable for LGBTQIA+ players and allies in Sydney.
Donations help strengthen the club and support the programs, people, and infrastructure that make participation possible.
Your donation supports a range of club needs, including:
reducing barriers to entry and participation
training, equipment, and facility costs
volunteer-led programs, events, and development
the ongoing operation and sustainability of the club
Funds may be used where they are most needed at the time, allowing the club to respond to priorities as they arise.
To acknowledge the generosity of our donors, we offer small thank-you gifts at the following levels:

For 25 years, the Sydney Stingers have created space for people to connect, belong, and grow through sport. We're a volunteer-run, community-led water polo club, and our impact comes from the way we operate day to day.
It's shaped by the people who show up, the pathways we create, and the values we protect over time.
We work to reduce barriers that often stop people from trying team sport. Through beginner-focused entry points, flexible pathways, and supportive environments, people can experience water polo without needing prior experience or long-term commitment.
This approach helps people build confidence in the water and decide how, or whether, they want to stay involved.
Inclusion is built into how the club operates. Women, trans, and non-binary members are active across all areas of the Stingers as players, volunteers, and leaders.
Our teams and programs are designed to support a range of identities, bodies, and experience levels. Belonging is not something you earn here—it's where you begin.
Beyond competition, the Stingers are a social and community space. Members train together, volunteer their time, attend events, and support one another in and out of the pool.
We maintain a visible presence at LGBTQIA+ community events, including Fair Day and the Sydney Mardi Gras Parade, and have partnered with organisations like ACON and Pride in Sport to strengthen inclusion in sport.
The club is run entirely by volunteers. From captaining to governance, administration, and event delivery, members step into leadership roles that keep the club functioning and evolving.
This shared responsibility builds skills, confidence, and continuity, and helps ensure the club remains community-led and sustainable.
Longevity matters. Over 25 years, the Sydney Stingers have adapted to changing needs while staying true to our purpose and values.
Support from members, donors, and partners helps us maintain safe environments, invest in people, and respond to priorities as they arise, without losing sight of why the club exists.
We're open to partnerships with organisations that share our values and want to support inclusive, community-led sport. If you're interested in working with the Sydney Stingers, we'd love to hear from you.
We're grateful to everyone who supports the club—whether through donations, volunteering, partnerships, or advocacy. Your support helps make participation possible and keeps the club accessible for future generations.
